Tiger the odds on favourite to capture the 2005 Masters
Sportsbook.com has released odds that predict Tiger Woods' slump in golf's Majors will come to an end this week, making him a 7-2 favourite to capture his fourth Green Jacket, and first since 2002.
This year's field includes two Canadians; 2003 champion Mike Weir, from Bright's Grove, Ontario who is listed as a 28-1 favourite and Calgary, Alberta's Stephen Ames at 100-1. Sportsbook.com has also listed head to head odds on the Canadian pair, making Weir a -250 favourite to finish ahead of Ames in the standings.
'Mike Weir and The Masters are among the reasons golf is so popular in Canada; Mike having won the event two years ago,' says Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, sportsbook.com. 'Weir vs. Ames is just one of hundreds of ways you can now wager on The Masters.'
Rounding out the list of top favourites behind Woods are defending champion Phil Mickelson (5-1), 2000 winner Vijay Singh (7-1), two-time Masters runner-up Ernie Els (8-1) and Retief Goosen (15-1). All five players have previously won one of golf's Majors - The Masters, US Open, British Open and PGA Championships. The leading favourite among non-Major winners is Padraig Harrington at 20-1.
