Roulette jargon

Don’t be intimidated by the complicated terminology used around the Roulette table… it’s actually a very simple game, once you learn the ropes! We break down some of the most common Roulette jargon so that you’ll feel more confident stepping up to the table.

An American Wheel has 38 slots, numbers 1 to 36 as well as 0 and 00. In contrast, a European Wheel (also known as a French wheel) has just 37 slots, 1 to 35 and 0.

A croupier is the Roulette version of a dealer. This person operates the roulette wheel, collects bets and pays out your winnings.

A Red-Black bet means the player is betting on one of the two Roulette colors – Red or Black. The numbers on the wheel are evenly divided between red and black, alternating.

Similar bets include Odd-Even, which is a wager that the number will be either odd or even, and High-Low bets, betting that the number will be either between 1 and 18 or between 19 and 36.

A straight bet is a wager on a single number, the highest-paying bet on the table. To learn more about the various Roulette bets and the payouts associated with them, go to the Help section of the casino.
