Affiliate Disclosure

TheGambleDoctor is free to read because operators pay for it. We want Canadian readers to know exactly how that works, so this page lays it out. For the wider rules of the site, see our Disclaimer and Terms of Use. How tracking cookies and personal data are handled is explained in our Privacy Policy.

1. Our affiliate relationships

We are an affiliate publisher. We have commercial agreements with a large number of online casinos and betting sites, and many of the brands reviewed in our Canadian section are partners. When you visit a partner through one of our links and open an account or make a deposit, that partner may pay us a commission.

Commission can be a flat fee per new customer, a share of the operator's revenue from that customer, or both. It is our main source of income and pays for research, writing, updates and hosting. We don't charge readers and we don't sell your personal information.

2. No extra cost to you

The commission is paid by the operator out of its marketing budget, not by you. Using our link won't increase any fee, reduce your bonus or change the terms you get. If an operator offers our readers an exclusive promotion, we'll mark it as exclusive on the page.

The same goes for the weekly deals and tournaments listed on our promotions pages: the operator sets the terms, and claiming an offer through our link gives you exactly what the operator advertises, no more and no less.

3. Where you'll find affiliate links

  • Casino lists, toplists and comparison tables on hub pages such as online casinos, casino bonuses and betting sites.
  • Individual casino reviews, on the operator logo and in the bonus box.
  • "Play here" buttons. These go to addresses that start with /go/ followed by the brand name, a tracked redirect that takes you to the operator and lets it know you came from us.

Not every link is commercial. Links to regulators like the AGCO, to help services like ConnexOntario, to testing labs, game providers or news sources are there for information only. We aren't paid for them and they aren't tracked.

4. Partners in rankings and featured positions

Most operators in our toplists, featured spots and "top pick" positions are commercial partners. Commercial terms can influence which operators we feature and the order in which they appear in a list. This is why our footer notes that all reviews can be considered commercial content.

What a partner cannot do is buy the content of a review. Our assessment of licensing, bonus terms, payment options, withdrawal speed, games and support is our own. A partner can't pay to remove criticism or raise its rating, and we also cover operators we have no agreement with.

5. Editorial independence

Our reviews are written for players. If an operator's wagering requirements are steep, its withdrawals slow or its support unhelpful, we'll say so, partner or not. If a partner's conduct gets worse, we can rewrite the review, lower the operator in our lists or drop it from the site. Learn more about us on the About page.

6. What we ask of you

Offers change and availability varies by province. Before you sign up, check the operator's current terms on its own website, make sure it is permitted in your province, and set deposit and time limits. You must be 19 or older (18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec). If you ever feel your play is getting out of hand, our Responsible Gambling page lists free Canadian support services.

7. Updates

We'll revise this disclosure whenever our commercial arrangements or the way we place links change. The version on this page is the current one.
