How We Earn Money

Short version: some casinos pay us when you join them through our links, you pay nothing for it, and our verdicts are not for sale. The longer version follows. This page belongs with our Disclaimer, our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy, which also covers the cookies used to track referrals.

Who pays us, and why

TheGambleDoctor is funded by affiliate marketing. We have partnership agreements with many online casinos. If a reader follows one of our links to a partner casino and then creates an account or makes a deposit, the casino may pay us a commission.

The commission may be a fixed amount per new player, a percentage of the revenue the casino earns from that player over time, or a combination. This money covers our writers, research and running costs. We do not charge readers, show paywalls or sell your contact details.

Does it cost you anything?

No. The casino pays us from its own marketing budget. You get the same welcome bonus, free spins and terms whether you arrive through our link or type the casino's address yourself. If a partner ever gives our readers an exclusive deal or a special bonus code, we label it clearly.

How to recognise a partner link

In the /play/ section, partner links usually appear:

  • in casino lists and comparison tables, for example on our casino and bonus pages;
  • in the casino carousel and on the logos and bonus boxes of each casino review;
  • on "Play here" buttons, which lead through a tracking address on gotoplay.thegambledoctor.com before opening the casino.

That tracking step is what lets the casino know the visit came from us. Links to help organisations, testing labs such as eCOGRA or iTech Labs, game providers or reference sources are ordinary information links. They are not paid and are not tracked.

Partners in rankings and highlighted places

The casinos you see in our lists, top spots and carousels are mostly commercial partners, and commercial agreements can affect which casinos we highlight and in what order. For that reason the footer states that all reviews can be considered commercial content.

The content of a review is a different matter. What we write about licensing, bonus fairness, withdrawals, games and support reflects our own assessment. A partner cannot pay to have a negative point removed or a rating raised, and we also review casinos we have no deal with.

Our editorial line

We write for players, not for casinos. If wagering terms are harsh or payouts are slow, the review says so. The About page explains who we are and what we stand for.

What a partnership does not change

  • the facts we report about licences, bonus terms and payment options;
  • the drawbacks we list in a review;
  • our safer gambling advice, which appears on every page regardless of who pays us.

If a partner casino starts treating players badly, for example by delaying withdrawals or changing terms unfairly, we can update the review, move the casino down a list or remove it from the site altogether. A commercial agreement does not oblige us to keep promoting anyone.

Your part

Bonus terms and availability change and differ by country. Before you sign up, check the current terms on the casino's own site, make sure online gambling is legal where you live, and set limits you can live with. You must be 18 or over, or older where your local law requires.

When this page changes

If our partnerships or the way we use links change in a way that matters to you, we will update this page. The text published here is always the current version.
