Affiliate Disclosure

We think you should know how a website earns its money before you trust what it says. This page explains the commercial side of TheGambleDoctor's UK section. It works together with our Disclaimer, our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy, which explains how tracking and cookies are handled.

How we make money

TheGambleDoctor is an affiliate website. We have agreements with many of the online casinos and betting sites we write about. When a reader clicks through from our site and then registers, deposits or plays with one of these operators, the operator may pay us a commission.

Depending on the agreement, that commission can be a one-off fee for each new customer, a share of the revenue the operator makes from that customer, or a mix of both. This income pays for writing, testing, updating and hosting the site. We do not charge readers anything and we do not sell subscriptions.

What it costs you

Nothing. The commission comes out of the operator's marketing budget. Signing up through our link does not raise any price, lower any bonus or change the terms you are offered. In most cases the offer you see through our link is the same one the operator shows on its own site. Now and then an operator gives our readers a slightly better deal, and when that happens we say so on the page.

Where the affiliate links are

Affiliate links on the UK section are mostly found in three places:

  • the casino lists and comparison tables on our hub pages, such as online casinos and casino bonuses;
  • individual casino reviews, including the operator logo and the bonus summary;
  • the "Play here" buttons, which point to addresses beginning with /go/ followed by the brand name.

A /go/ link is a tracked redirect: it sends you on to the operator and tells the operator that you came from us. Other links work differently. Links to support organisations, regulators, testing labs, game providers or news sources are informational. We are not paid for them and they carry no tracking code.

Partners in our lists and featured spots

Most brands that appear in our lists, tables and highlighted positions are commercial partners. Commercial terms can influence which brands we feature and in which order a list is shown. That is why we treat our reviews as commercial content and say so in the site footer.

What a partner cannot buy is the review itself. The assessment of licensing, bonus terms, payment speed, game choice and customer support is written by our editors, and a partner cannot pay to remove a criticism or to raise a score. Operators that are not partners can be reviewed too.

Our editorial independence

Our reviews are written to help readers choose, not to please operators. If a casino's bonus terms are unfair, its withdrawals are slow or its support is poor, we say so whether or not it pays us. You can read more about who we are and how we work on our About page.

Check before you play

Offers and terms change. Before you register or deposit, read the current terms on the operator's own website, check that the operator is licensed by the Gambling Commission, and set your own deposit limits. You must be 18 or over to gamble. If you need help, our Responsible Gambling page lists free support services.

Changes to this page

When our commercial arrangements or the way we place links change, we update this disclosure. The version published here is the current one, and it replaces any earlier wording.
